Contactless Cards: Tap to Pay With Speed and Security
Have you heard the buzz? Contactless cards are here! We’ve updated our Grow Visa® debit and credit cards with the added feature of contactless payment — a fast, secure way to pay.
Contactless cards use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, allowing you to tap your card to pay for your purchases, rather than swiping or inserting the card into a payment terminal. Wondering what makes contactless cards so popular?
- Speed and convenience: With no need to insert a chip, payments can typically be completed in just a second or two.
- Security: The RFID technology used in contactless cards generates a unique code for each transaction, so your card details are not stored or transmitted during the payment process.
If you still prefer to use the chip, or if a vendor doesn’t offer contactless payments yet, your Grow Visa card still works that way too.
How do I get a contactless card?
If you’re an active Grow Visa credit or debit cardholder, you should have received a replacement for your previous card during the summer of 2023. Activate your new Grow Visa card in just a few seconds by calling 800.286.1914.
Didn’t get a contactless card yet? Please let us know as soon as possible. Though we’ve done our very best to make sure everyone has received a new card automatically, sometimes an old mailing address may cause a problem in getting your card to you. Call our Member Contact Center at 800.839.6328, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm, to request a new card or visit a Grow store. Find a store near you.
Select Grow stores offer instantly issued cards. Stop by for a same-day card at:
Florida: Pasco, New Tampa, Hyde Park, South Tampa, Carrollwood, Brandon, Saint Pete, Clearwater, Pinellas Park, Town ‘N Country, Lakewood Ranch, Spring Hill
South Carolina: Wescott, Lexington, SandhillWhy are card numbers changing?
To maintain a secure and efficient payment ecosystem, Visa reformatted the way card numbers are issued, and in doing so, all Grow Visa cards needed to be updated. This gave us a perfect opportunity to introduce a much-requested feature: contactless payment.
Your card number, expiration date and CVV code have changed. Make sure to update your card information with any vendors or retailers where you’ve set up automatic payments, such as subscription services or recurring bills, to avoid an interruption in payments.
How do I use tap to pay?
Once you’ve activated your new card, you’ll be ready to start using tap to pay. Here’s how it works:
Look for the Contactless Symbol
You can identify when tap to pay is an option by looking for the Contactless Symbol at checkout. When you see the symbol, it means the retailer has enabled tap to pay.
Tap & go
When you’re ready to pay, simply bring your contactless card within an inch or two of the Contactless Symbol on the checkout terminal and hold it there for a couple of seconds until the point-of-sale system approves your transaction. That’s it!What else do I need to know?
When scammers find out that financial institutions are issuing new cards, they often increase their scam attempts, particularly phishing scams designed to get your money and personal information. That’s why it’s important to be vigilant when reviewing any communication that appears to come from Grow Financial.
We won’t send you any text messages that ask you to click on a link to update your information before receiving a new contactless card, and we will never make unsolicited contact to ask you for verification codes. When in doubt, please reach out to us directly by calling 800.839.6328, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm ET, and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm ET. Learn more about avoiding identity theft.

How to Find Your Routing & Account Numbers
When you make a payment online, by phone or on a mobile device, you may be asked for our routing number and your checking account number. Credit unions and banks use these numbers to identify accounts and make sure money gets where it’s supposed to be. You’ll also need to provide your routing and checking account numbers for:
- Direct deposits
- Electronic checks
- Military allotments
- Wire transfers
Where to Find Your Routing & Checking Account Numbers
Your personal checks include both our routing number and your account number, as shown on the Grow check example below.
Don’t have a Grow check? No worries.
Visit any Grow store and ask for a Direct Deposit Form. It lists both your routing number and checking account number.
Making a Loan Payment
When it comes to making payments, we try to make it as painless as possible to pay your loan every month. We have several different ways to pay, including convenient online options.
Pay Online
You have two ways to pay online by transferring funds from another bank or credit union.
- Grow Online Banking (Preferred payment method for any loan)
This is the simplest way to pay your loan. You can make one-time payments or set up automatic recurring payments in Grow Online Banking. Once you log in, select “Transfer/Payments” from the menu. If you’re not enrolled in Grow Online Banking yet, you can set up your account in just a few minutes.

- Debit Card or ACH (Available for auto, personal loans and HELOCs)
Note: ACH and debit card payments are not available for credit cards or most mortgages, except HELOCs.
We accept ACH payments with no additional fees or Mastercard® and Visa® debit cards with a convenience fee of $4.95. To get started with an online ACH or debit card payment, select Pay Now below.

Pay by Mail
You can also pay any Grow loan by check through the mail. Please remember to include your account number and Grow loan number on the check. (For credit card payments, please do not write your 16-digit credit card number on the check, which can cause a delay in processing the payment.)
