Five Ways to Support Local Businesses
The largest employer in the country? Small businesses. (Cumulatively, of course!) From the jobs they create to the irreplaceable services they provide, small businesses are essential to the fabric of our communities. We all want to help keep our local businesses afloat, especially in tough economic times. Here are five ways to support local businesses:
1. Explore local options for everyday needs.
Instead of heading to a national chain for everyday items, consider checking out the local options near you, such as:
- Farmers markets and craft fairs: These events are excellent venues to support local businesses, vendors and artisans, while enjoying a sense of community too.
- Boutique stores: You’ll often find unique products unavailable in larger stores.
- Cafés and coffee shops: Who doesn’t enjoy homemade pastries and coffee brewed just right?
When you shop local, you’re supporting a member of the community and everyone they employ, plus you’re keeping more of your dollars in the local economy. It’s a win all around!
2. Choose small business services.
Whether you need home repairs, landscaping or financial services, consider hiring local professionals. By doing so, you keep your money in the local economy, helping to create and maintain jobs in your community. You’ll probably enjoy quality service too, since small businesses rely on positive word-of-mouth in the community they serve.
3. Unleash your inner foodie.
There’s no shortage of local restaurants, bakeries and ice cream shops, with new ones popping up all the time — especially true in Florida and South Carolina! From fresh coastal flavors to innovative takes on Southern classics, you can always find something new to sample. Next time you’re ready to go out for dinner or dessert, choose a local spot for the bonus of supporting a small business, such as 7th and Grove and Small Batch Creamery!
4. Get creative with gifts.
Is it time to buy a gift for a birthday, holiday or other special occasion? Look no further than the local businesses in your community, such as:
- Wineries and breweries.
- Candlemakers, jewelry makers and other artisans.
- Pet groomers.
- Massage therapists.
- Stylists and salon owners.
That’s double the joy from your gift — both the recipient and the business you’re supporting share in the benefit.
5. Keep it positive.
In the digital age, a simple social media post can significantly impact a small business. Consider leaving a positive review of your favorite local business and tell your friends and family about it too. Positive recommendations can go a long way! And, if you have a poor experience somewhere, communicate your feedback with the business owner directly to give them a chance to make it right rather than leaving a negative online review right away.

How to Find Your Routing & Account Numbers
When you make a payment online, by phone or on a mobile device, you may be asked for our routing number and your checking account number. Credit unions and banks use these numbers to identify accounts and make sure money gets where it’s supposed to be. You’ll also need to provide your routing and checking account numbers for:
- Direct deposits
- Electronic checks
- Military allotments
- Wire transfers
Where to Find Your Routing & Checking Account Numbers
Your personal checks include both our routing number and your account number, as shown on the Grow check example below.
Don’t have a Grow check? No worries.
Visit any Grow store and ask for a Direct Deposit Form. It lists both your routing number and checking account number.
Making a Loan Payment
When it comes to making payments, we try to make it as painless as possible to pay your loan every month. We have several different ways to pay, including convenient online options.

- Grow Online Banking (Preferred payment method for any loan)
This is the simplest way to pay your loan. You can make one-time payments or set up automatic recurring payments in Grow Online Banking. Once you log in, select “Transfer/Payments” from the menu. If you’re not enrolled in Grow Online Banking yet, you can set up your account in just a few minutes.

Pay by Mail
